Opened in September 2000, this facility provides health care to the Town of Happy Valley - Goose Bay and is the referral centre for the community clinics, Churchill Falls, North West River,  Mud Lake and Sheshatshiu.  In addition, it is not uncommon to provide services to passengers of trans-Atlantic flights and military personnel.

The hospital has 26 beds, a 24-hour Emergency Department and Outpatient Clinics, staffed by Family Physicians.  An education agreement with Memorial University of Newfoundland trains Family Practice Residents with faculty members on site.  Each Family Physician is also responsible for the medical care of a Coastal Community.  Specialists include a General Surgeon, an Anesthetist and an Obstetrician/Gynecologist.  

Maternity care is provided by a team which includes an Obstetrician, Physician Residents, Midwives,  Registered Nurses.

The Emergency Department is open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.  Patients are treated in this department on a priority basis - those sickest will be seen first.
