The new Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre officially opened on June 21, 2001, following a complex move from its old location in Pleasantville.
This center of excellence in child health has spacious and bright inpatient units, modern surgical and emergency departments, and a “kid-friendly” design. It brings together the children of the province with the one-of-a-kind services available in the Health Sciences Complex.
At the opening ceremonies, then-Premier Roger Grimes said, "This state-of-the-art facility will continue the tradition and reputation of the Janeway and its staff to provide nothing less than top notch care for children. The new Janeway is not only a building; for some children, it is the place they call home. For their families, it is a place of hope. And, for the staff, it is the place which provides reward beyond compare."
