Grand Falls-Windsor

The town of Grand Falls-Windsor has a population of approximately 15,000. The cost of living is relatively low, with municipal taxes and utilities reasonably priced. Housing costs are affordable, with a split-entry bungalow selling for anywhere from $130,000 to $160,000.  There are employment opportunities in many different sectors, including health care, business and finance, sales and service, education, trades, government service and industry, as well as the growing IT sector.

The town, as well as the province, boasts a very low crime rate, good air and water quality and spectacular scenery. And no matter where you live in Grand Falls-Windsor, you are only a few minutes drive from the shopping and recreation centers, parks, schools and restaurants and health care facilities. The community takes a very active interest in educating youth and offering continuing education opportunities. The town has a very good public school system and is home to several private colleges and one public college. The public college offers a college transfer year for high school graduates.

With above average temperatures in the summer and beautiful snow covered winters, there is plenty to do year round. Grand Falls-Windsor has a very active and vibrant cultural community with art shows, choirs, a community jazz band, local music and entertainment, drama club, dinner theatre and theatre festivals. The town has a number of activities for the outdoor enthusiast. There is a local cross-country ski club and trail, parks for camping, and waterways in the vicinity of the town, for activities such as kayaking, canoeing and white water rafting. Hunting and fishing lodges are located in the central area (in close proximity to the town) and salmon fishing on the Exploits River is a favorite activity of many local residents. The Corduroy Brook walking trail is also a very popular outdoor attraction in the town for local residents. The town is also home to two stadiums, ideal for both competitive and recreational ice hockey and figure skating. Tennis courts, baseball & soccer fields and a nine-hole golf course are also accessible within the town limits. Finally, the town also has many indoor sports facilities including the YMCA (gymnasium, weight room, squash courts and swimming pool), billiards rooms, bowling alley and curling club.
