Located in Labrador City, the Captain William Jackman (CWJ) Memorial Hospital is a fully accredited, modern health facility serving Labrador East.

The hospital was named in memory of Captain William Jackman, of Renews, Ferryland District, who played a hero's role in the rescue of twenty-seven persons from the wreck of the vessel "Sea Clipper" at the Spotted Islands, in a great storm in 1867.
